Designated Consumers
If your consumption is greater than 250,000 kWh per year, you may qualify for « designated consumer » status.
“Designated consumers” are classified as municipalities, schools, universities, hospitals, registered charities and farmers, as well as organizations in the health and social services sector that receive provincial government funding.
“Designated consumers” are eligible for the two-tier pricing structure for the electricity commodity that is established by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).
The provincial government has created a complete listing of “designated consumers” for your reference. If you would like to apply for “designated consumer” status or find out more, contact us at (705) 372-2815.
Other large customers whose consumption is greater than 250,000 kilowatt-hours per year and who do not qualify for “designated consumer” pricing, will remain in the wholesale market.
